About Hope Kiehl

Leading a Lifetime of Life Skills

It is with great enthusiasm and gratitude that I introduce myself in the capacity of Miss New Jersey Volunteer. My S.E.R.V.E. Initiative (Scholarship, Education, Responsibility, Volunteerism, Empowerment) has given rise to my program titled "Leading a Lifetime of Life Skills." "Leading a Lifetime of Life Skills" is an educational program designed to impart the essential tools necessary for self-sufficiency and success through a series of structured life skills workshops.

My deep-seated passion for life skills education found its inception during my formative years when I enrolled in my initial Family and Consumer Science (formerly known as Home Economics) class in middle school. My initial ardor was ignited by the realms of culinary arts and baking. As I progressed into high school, my passion further expanded to encompass child development, financial literacy, fostering healthy relationships, and nutrition.

Recognizing the imperative need to disseminate knowledge on life skills and empower individuals to navigate life's complexities while reaching their utmost potential, I embarked on a journey of higher education. I proudly graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania as a first-generation college student, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) in Family and Consumer Science, attaining a cumulative GPA of 4.00 and graduating Summa Cum Laude. I am currently enrolled in Western Governors University perusing a Master's of Science Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. My professional goal is to write the curriculum and advocate for legislation to impose required Family and Consumer Science Curriculum at the secondary level in all 50 states!

Leveraging my academic background in Family and Consumer Science and my association with the Miss Volunteer America Organization as Miss New Jersey Volunteer, I am committed to the noble task of educating diverse and multifaceted groups of individuals on the skills requisite for leading a wholesome and gratifying life.
